Tahir Jahangir elected Punjab Club’s managing committee chairman

LAHORE: Tahir Jahangir has been elected as the chairman of Punjab Club’s managing committee for the year 2019.

As per the details, the illustrious club held elections for its managing committee on Saturday.

Out of the 12 candidates, Tahir Jahangir secured 133 votes, whereas Bairam Qureshi and Imran Afzal trailed behind with 120 and 119 votes, respectively.

Hassan Mumtaz secured 99 votes, Irfan Anwar 91, Saeed Khan 89, Khurshid Akhtar Khan 76, Dr Aziz Khan 74, Farooq Iftikhar 69, Sarfraz Ahmad 63, Laeeq Ahmad 54 and Dr Tashbeeb Gulzar bagged 34 votes.

Established in 1884, the Punjab Club was exclusively used by British and Europeans.

The private social club was transferred to Pakistan in 1962 and has elected members consisting of high ranking civil and armed forces personnel, leading industrialists, entrepreneurs and executives over the years.
