KARACHI: Sindh Ministry of Interior has decided to launch investigations against the private security company which provided its services to the slain ex-Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Ali Raza Abidi.
According to the police, security personnel provided to the former member of the National Assembly (MNA) were untrained and had insufficient weapons.
Earlier, the slain leader’s security guards had said that they tried to open fire at the murderers but remained unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, Sindh Minister for Interior Qazi Kabir has revealed that the license of many such companies has been cancelled owing to their poor performance.
“A total of 260 security companies have been registered across the province out of which only 150 are functional. Amongst the functional ones, only 50 companies have displayed satisfactory performance,” he said.
On Tuesday, Ali Raza Abidi was killed in a shooting in Defence area of Karachi in what police officials claim to be a target killing incident.
According to media reports, at least nine shots were fired as Abidi left his vehicle right outside his residence. One of the bullets hit him in the arm, two in the neck and four in the chest, an initial postmortem report revealed.
