ISLAMABAD: National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) Chairman Justice (r) Ali Nawaz Chohan on Tuesday took suo motu notice of the death of Sargodha University Lahore Campus’ former chief executive officer (CEO) Mian Javed Ahmed who was under the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
In a statement, NCHR demanded NAB to allow its team to inspect its detention centre. NCHR said that the victim was under investigation of NAB Lahore office. The NCHR chairman took suo motu notice of the incident under NCHR Act, 2012, taking into account the gravity of the matter.
The commission, while expressing grave concerns over the incident, demanded NAB authorities to present a comprehensive report on this matter before December 31, enabling it to take necessary steps.
