ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior took notice of complaints against Gerry’s Visa Services regarding the alleged movement of data of Pakistanis to different countries, including India, while directing the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to conduct an investigation into the matter.
The committee meeting was held on Thursday with Rehman Malik in the chair.
Rehman Malik said that he came to know through newspapers reports that data of a number of Pakistanis was being transferred to different countries through the company.
He directed the officials of NADRA and FIA to immediately conduct an investigation of the matter and send a report to the committee.
“According to the law, no one or any company could hold the passport of any person … How a private company is collecting the passports and documents of a number of Pakistanis” he questioned.
Meanwhile, the committee also passed a resolution condemning the killings of innocent Kashmiris by the Indian occupation forces in the held valley. Through the resolution, they condemned the recent wave of repression and violence, unleashed by Indian occupied forces in Indian held Kashmir as well as direct shooting at protesters in Pulwama district that claimed scores of lives and left many injured.
Senators Usman Kakar, Javed Abbasi, Rana Maqbool Ahmed, interior secretary, FIA DG, Rawalpindi CPO, KP SP and other officials attended the meeting.
