PML-N General Council to meet on July 27 in Islamabad

The PML-N central leaders on Tuesday decided that the party’s General Council would meet on July 27 in Islamabad to elect PML-N’s central office bearers. It was also decided in a consultation meeting, chaired by party chief Nawaz Sharif, that Nawaz would be elected party’s central president unopposed.
“It was also decided in the meeting that Sartaj Aziz would be given the slot of party’s secretary general in the Centre while former PML-N secretary information Ahsan Iqbal could be replaced by Senator Pervez Rashid,” said a PML-N leader seeking not to be named. He said Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif would become PML-N Punjab president while Khwaja Saad Rafique would be likely elected as PML-N Punjab’s secretary general.
“The names of party’s presidents and secretaries general for Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have not been finalised yet as the PML-N is facing intra-party differences on the nominations of district office bearers. In KP either Sardar Mehtab Abbasi or Sabir Shah would be elected to head party’s provincial chapter,” said the source. Saleem Zia, PML-N’s Sindh chief organiser told Pakistan Today that the names for provincial office bearers in Sindh had not been finalised yet. Talking to Pakistan Today, Senator Raja Zafarul Haq said PML-N’s General Council would meet on July 27 to elect central office bearers.
