The Islami Jamiat-e-Talba (IJT) got a taste of its own medicine, when one of its activists was beaten up at the Punjab University (PU) New Campus on Monday.
Ahmed Sajjad Rathore was injured when two student groups clashed with each other near the statistics department. The injured was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for treatment. According to PU Resident Officer 1 Javed Sami, two students clashed on some personal reasons and the varsity administration is probing into the matter. Around two weeks ago, IJT activists tortured male students and abused their female colleague for sitting together in their department. Afterwards, students who protested against the IJT, were targeted in hostels of the New Campus.
Rathore is student of the statistics department and an IJT activist. He is notorious for his violent behaviour and was involved in beating a student of the philosophy department for allegedly talking to his female colleague inside his department. According to sources, an IJT worker was injured when Rathore harassed a male student for allegedly walking with a girl in the main corridor area.
PU IJT Nazim Zubair Safdar said that the IJT activist was standing in the main corridor near his department when he stopped student Qasim from teasing girls. Qasim as a retaliatory move called his friends and thrashed Rathore and his gang while the assailants also reportedly fired in the air.
