Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar was admitted to the Rawalpindi’s Institute of Cardiology amid health concerns on Wednesday.
The son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was brought to the health facility on doctors’ instructions after falling ill, media reports said.
They added that Safdar has been ailing for the past several days, receiving medical treatment in Lahore.
On September 19, Islamabad High Court suspended the sentences against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law retired captain Mohammad Safdar given by accountability court in a corruption reference, releasing them on bail from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
A division bench comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb had allowed petitions filed by the Sharif family against the accountability court’s July 6 verdict in Avenfield reference case, which found them guilty of corruption.
