LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday said that constructive criticism by media provides necessary guidance to the government, and broadcasters’ role in highlighting problems being faced by the masses is praiseworthy.
“Proposals given by the media will always be welcomed to help us progress in our journey to composite development,” he said while speaking during an informal meeting with senior journalists and anchorpersons at Punjab House in Islamabad.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government believes in public service and we are working hard to solve the problems of the common man, the chief minister said.
“We are standing with the infirm and feeble communities and are against the mafias. An indiscriminate action is being taken against land grabbers in Punjab and so far more than 88,000 acres of state-owned land has been recovered.”
The cost of the land is around Rs150 billion to Rs200 billion, he said and added that resources have been diverted towards backward areas, especially the southern Punjab.
CM Buzdar reiterated that Punjab will be transformed by sincerely implementing the reforms agenda of Prime Minister Imran Khan, stating that particular attention is being given to composite development of the province.
“Every possible step is being taken to improve the performance of institutions whereas elected representatives are also in continuous touch with the people to solve their problems,” he added.
The chief minister said that particular attention is being given to the development of the social sector and the results of change in Punjab will very soon be visible.
“The Chief Minister’s Complaint Centre has been established to facilitate the general public and complaints pertaining to health, education, police and the DC office can be lodged there. The scope of this complaint centre will be extended to the entire province at the earliest and public grievances will be redressed at the district, tehsil and village levels.”
“I am personally monitoring this centre,” he said and added that it would help bring improvements in the working culture of public sector departments.
The chief minister said the PTI government will fulfil the promises made to the people and a secretariat is being established in southern Punjab so that people do not have to visit Lahore for the redressal of their grievances.
“We are actively working to provide relief to the general public and every necessary step is being taken in this regard.”
He also appraised the media persons about the ongoing development projects and reforms agenda of the government.
Spokesperson to the chief minister, Dr Shahbaz Gill, and Principal Secretary Dr Raheel Siddiqui were also present on the occasion.
