Kartarpur Corridor: Indian Punjab’s CM sends goodwill message to Parvez Elahi

LAHORE: A 10-member delegation of the Indian Medical Association, led by its president, Professor Ravi Wankhadeker, called on Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on Monday and delivered him a goodwill message from Indian Punjab’s Chief Minister Captain (r) Amarinder Singh on the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor.

The delegation also met Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

Speaking on the occasion, Ch Parvez Elahi said that opening of the Kartarpur Corridor would enable the Sikh community to easily reach their holy sites in Pakistan.

“The government of Pakistan attaches importance to all holy places of Sikhs, and the pilgrims are provided with all facilities during their stay in the country.”

Better relations between the two neighbouring countries would be advocated, he added.

Professor Ravi Wankhadeker said that Elahi’s establishment of Rescue 1122 Emergency Service, provision of free medicines and medical facilities in the hospitals besides other revolutionary measures in the health sector were a proof of his determination to serve the masses.

Among other delegates were Indian Medical Association Vice President Professor Bakhshi, Professor Virk, Professor Faisal Ghani, Nepal Society of Surgeons President Prof Bakhshi Verma, Prof Abdul Majeed Choudhry, Dr Sabeena and Dr Meena.

The Indian Medical Association delegation is in Lahore on a three-day visit to participate in a medical symposium.
