Two people were shot dead in separate incidents in the city on Sunday. A 17-year-old youth was killed by unidentified men in the Islampura Police Station precincts on Sunday. The victim was identified as Umar Farooq, a resident of Rabbani Road. On Sunday, Umar was playing cricket near Bank Road when two unidentified motorcyclists opened indiscriminate fire at him and fled. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No FIR was registered until filing of this report. Separately, an 18-year-old girl was allegedly killed by her father for honour in the Lower Mall Police Station precincts. According to police, Fatima Abbas, a resident of Mohni Road, was shot dead by her father Ali Abbas. Some local residents and Rescue officials shifted the injured to a nearby hospital but she died. Later, a FIR under Section 302 of the PPC was lodged against the accused on the statement of Rehana Bibi, mother of the deceased. Further investigations are underway. Also on Sunday, a 17-year-old youth was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Defence-A Police Station precincts. Deceased Khawar Masih, a resident of Chungi Amar Sidhu, was lying dead in a plot in XX-Block, Defence-A. Local residents spotted the body and informed police. Defence-A Police removed the body to the city morgue for autopsy. Police said that the deceased’s mother had died while his father was in jail. Police suspected that the victim was a drug addict and died of an overdose. Police said that no relative had contacted to claim the victim’s body. Around six people were injured in different incidents in the provincial metropolis. In the first incident, two people identified as Riaz and Abdus Sattar were injured over a minor issue near the Pir Makki Darbar in the Lower Mall Police Station precincts. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital where Riaz’s condition was reported to be critical. A 28-year-old man was injured when he offered resistance to a robbery bid near Tajpura Scheme in the Ghaziabad Police Station precincts.
