Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s recent UK visit is part of an election campaign, which has damaged the country’s image, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shaukat Basra said on Sunday. He said that the PPP will ask Shahbaz to clarify his policy on the Punjab Assembly’s (PA) floor. Basra said that the CM’s statement at the Commonwealth’s Headquarters, “I am the first person who has paid tax on a farm in Punjab” shows his individual’s performance and not the Punjab government’s performance.
The PPP leader criticised the CM by saying that investors were running away from the province due to bad governance and Shahbaz was inviting investment in the energy sector while speaking at the UK Trade Ministry. Basra said that the CM “blew his trumpet” by presenting the Punjab government’s performance, including the recent budget and the Yellow Cab Scheme, in front of British politicians.
