Sikh pilgrims reach Gurdwara Dera Sahib

–Punjab govt bears expense of a pilgrim’s stent implantation surgery in Rawalpindi

LAHORE: Sikh pilgrims, who are in the country to celebrate the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Jee, reached Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore via special buses on Monday.

Earlier, they had arrived at the Lahore Railway Station by a special train from Punja Sahib, Hassan Abdal.

Party leader Sardar Amer Jeet Singh expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements made for them by the Pakistani government. “We will visit Gurdwara Kirtarpur [in] Narowal on November 28,” he added.

He said the Sikh community in all parts of the world was extremely happy over the opening of the Kirtarpur Corridor.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandak Committee Pardhan (PSGPC) Sardar Tara Singh said that the committee was fully cooperating with the authorities to facilitate the pilgrims.

Other Sikh pilgrims also expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements and hospitality extended to them in Pakistan.

HEART SURGERY:

Meanwhile, a pilgrim underwent heart surgery at the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) on Monday.

According to RIC PS Chief Executive Officer Sajid Mehmood, Ratan Singh was brought to the RIC after he complained of chest pain.

He underwent a stent implantation of his coronary artery due to an abnormal stress test and now was out of danger, he added.

He informed media persons that free of cost medical treatment was provided to Ratan Singh and the Punjab government bore all the expenses.
