The tense relationship between the Punjab CM and the governor surfaced again on Saturday when senior officials refused to brief Governor Latif Khosa on the flood situation on Saturday.
According to a private news channel, Governor Khosa decided to get a briefing on the flood situation under Act 131 and summoned Home Secretary Shahid Khan, Irrigation Secretary Irfan Ilahi, Health Secretary Jahanzaib, Communication Secretary Anjum Salaman, Additional Secretary Agriculture Dr Anjum and Disaster Management Authority DG Khalid Sherdil for this purpose. However, to Khosa’s dismay none of the officials turned up at Governor’s House.
Addressing a press conference later at Governor’s House, Khosa said the Punjab government was constitutionally bound to brief him about provincial administrative matters. Criticising Shahbaz Sharif, Khosa said, “The CM should enjoy the cool winds of London but he should not forget his constitutional responsibilities and lodge cases against those officials who have been held responsible in the flood report instead of promoting them.”

  1. Post of governor is undemocratic. It should be abolished and CM should be called governor. ZAB while copying India Act 1935 forgot to take this clause out where British used to appoint governors. Wake up intellectuals of Pakistan!!!

  2. It is ridiculous. It is the institutions that need to be respected even if the other side has political differences with the person occupying the office. When will Pakistan move to an institutionalized system than handling the things as these were done in fiefdoms?
