PM Khan orders speedy, trouble-free justice for masses

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday vowed that the government will make all out efforts to provide speedy and trouble-free access to justice to the people, particularly the weak segments of society, as per the ruling party’s election manifesto.

Chairing a meeting on legal reforms, PM Imran said it was the basic responsibility of the state to protect the rights of its citizens by mobilising all the state resources.

He issued special directives to ensure the basic rights of women, children and domestic servants. He was informed that modern technology solutions are being introduced to help courts in the dispensation of easy justice to the needy people.

Minister for Law and Justice Farogh Nasim said Whistleblower Protection and Vigilance Commission are being constituted for protection of those pinpointing corruption and other crimes, and to reward them properly. He said government servants will also be facilitated in seeking justice in their service matters.

The meeting was also told that mutual legal assistance bill would be introduced to finalise the agreements with different countries for bilateral legal assistance. The bill has been pending for nine months, the law minister added.

Parliamentary Secretary Malaika Ali Bukhari apprised the prime minister on the measures being taken for protection of women’s rights.
