PM stresses removing hurdles impeding promotion of tourism

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday emphasised to encourage and facilitate the tourism industry while removing all hurdles impeding its promotion.

Chairing a meeting of the National Task Force on Tourism here, the premier directed to develop a framework for public-private partnership, especially to attract foreign and local investment in large-scale tourism-related projects in the country.

He stressed that departments concerned should develop tourism policies and plans in accordance with the best international practices of sustainable tourism.

Agreeing to the recommendations of the Tourism task force, the prime minister directed devising a comprehensive plan of action in consultation with public and private sector organisations to implement a well synergised and coordinated mechanism for the promotion of tourism in the country.

PM Khan also directed to ensure environmental protection and cultural preservation while undertaking tourism-related projects across Pakistan.

Earlier, specialised, religious, adventure & sports, eco-tourism and other thematic types of tourism were also discussed in detail during the meeting.
