A polio vaccination team deployed at the permanent transit point (PTP) of Sabzi Mandi Mor in Islamabad was caught wasting vaccines and faking data.
According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Dr Asif Rahim, who is the focal person on polio for Islamabad, all of the team members have been terminated as their insolence has deprived some children of resources to fight the disease.
A monitoring team of the World Health Organization (WHO) caught the team entering fake names in their database and spilling two drops of the vaccine to the ground for every fake name they entered.
An official of the anti-polio drive said strict action will be taken across the country to ensure that polio teams are not wasting resources, “if such things can happen in the federal capital, what would the situation be like in the rest of the country?” he questioned.
