Declaring 2011 as the year of restoration of provincial status to Bahawalpur, Bahawalpur National Awami Party (BNAP) Secretary General Senator Mohammed Ali Durrani accused Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for promoting lingual and regional hatred to fuel Karachi-like riots in South Punjab.
All political parties would have to support the cause of Bahawalpur province and those who would oppose would have to face political demise,” he said while addressing a huge gathering at a reception held here in his honour by Abdul Hameed Abbasi at Basti Hakra, Khanpur.
He added that the prime minister wanted to fuel lingual riots in Southern Punjab for petty political gains but the people of Bahawalpur would foil all such nefarious designs. He urged President Asif Zardari to take notice of such a plan by his prime minister and abandon him who was opposing the construction of Nashtar Ghat Bridge.
He further said that without the creation of new provinces, the country and the provinces could neither develop nor their people could be prosperous.
He added the new provinces would ensure cementing democratic culture and, more peace and development and delivery of rights of the people at their doorsteps.

  1. PPP should understand that with the creation of more provinces it is going to benefit immensely in the next election. PML(N) is only popular in northern Punjab.
