ISLAMABAD: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday granted post-arrest bail to nine alleged arsonists involved in Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protests against the acquittal of Aasia Bibi.
The protestors had earlier been sent to jail on judicial remand for fourteen days at the request of an investigation officer.
The protestors were arrested for damaging public property for their personal gains and attacking police during violent protests in Islamabad.
ATC Judge Kausar Abbas Zaidi granted bail to all accused who were not nominated in the first information report (FIR) against the bail plea of 10 accused, whereas the bail plea of accused Mansoor Ahmed was adjourned till Monday by the court.
The police of Sector I-9 had arrested the arsonists after registering cases under sections 109, 148/149, 147/188, 353/186 and 341/427 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and under section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA).
