LAHORE: Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Monday called the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) a “black law” and called for abolishing NAB.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Abbasi commented on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif’s arrest by the accountability watchdog: “Everyone knows that the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case has no strength and now a case has been formed against Shehbaz Sharif pertaining to Ramzan Sugar Mill.”

The former premier stressed that Prime Minister Imran Khan had levelled allegations at him and his cabinet members in the past.

“Nothing will happen by levelling allegations,” he said, adding that if the prime minister wants to bring the corrupt to justice, he should look around himself first.

“Nothing can be achieved by defaming others and just talking. If corruption has been done, it should be brought forward,” he added.

On Saturday,  NAB had announced that it was ‘arresting’ Shehbaz in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case, minutes after an accountability court handed the custody of the former chief minister of Punjab to the anti-graft watchdog for another 14 days in the Ashiana Housing Scheme case.
