The concluding certificate distribution ceremony of the four-day Faculty Orientation Programme 2011 for new faculty members, organised from July 5 to 8 by the Punjab University Institute of Administrative Sciences’ (IAS) Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC) was held on Friday.
PU Acting Vice-Chancellor (VC) Dr Javaid Ahmed was the chief guest while Dean Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences Dr Ehsan Malik, IAS Director Dr Nasira Jabeen, HRDC Founding Director Dr Zafar Iqbal Jadoon and faculty members were also present on the occasion. Research scholars, lecturers and assistant professors from various departments also participated in the orientation programme.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Javaid congratulated Dr Jabeen and her team on conducting a successful programme for faculty members. He said that such programmes should be conducted on a regular basis to help teachers avoid problems. Javaid said that such programmes encourage teachers and boost confidence in them. He asked teachers to participate in such sessions time and again to improve their skills.
In her welcome address, Dr Jabeen said that objective of the programme was to polish skills of new faculty members and equip them with techniques of interpersonal communication, curriculum development, effective teaching methodologies, classroom management, micro-teaching, time management, semester system, mentoring and career counseling, writing a research proposal, information resource management and professionalism and ethics for university teachers. Afterwards, Dr Javaid distributed certificates among the participants.
