Indian skipper and wondrous ‘run machine’ batsman Virat Kohli celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday.

Kohli, who made his international debut in 2008 with a One Day International against neighbouring Sri Lanka at Dambulla, started his domestic career at the age of 16 when he first played for Delhi Under-15 team.

In 2006, Kohli was selected in Under-19 cricket squad that was to tour England for an ODI and test series. Kohli showed a remarkable display of technical skills and scored with an average of 105 and 49 in ODIs and tests respectively, receiving nation-wide praises for his performance, including his coach Chetan Chauhan.

Kohli, who had become a cricketing sensation amongst local youth by then, was selected to national cricket team in 2008. He eventually became the captain of the national cricket team. In the 2014 tour against Australia, when then-Indian skipper MS Dhoni was not part of the squad in the first game, Kohli took the reins as Indian captain for the first time. Following his retirement at the end of the third-match, Kohli was appointed full-time Test captain who ever since has left the world flabbergasted by his performance.
