KARACHI: An accountability court on Saturday issued arrest warrants against absconding suspects involved in the Rs23 billion corruption case related to the Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
The court issued the order on the references filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against former PSO managing director (MD) Naeem Mir, GM Syed Nazeer Ahmed Zaidi, Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited officials and others accused of allegedly causing Rs 23 billion loss to the national exchequer.
The court’s administrative judge provided the copies of references to the accused, stating that they would be indicted in the next hearing.
The NAB claimed that these officials misused authority while purchasing oil under an agreement with the Byco Petroleum in violation of rules. The absconding accused are Naeem Mir and Amir Abbas.
The anti-graft body had arrested Syed Zulfiqar Ali from Islamabad and Nazar Ali Zaidi from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).
The court adjourned the hearing till November 8.
