KARACHI: An Accountability Court (AC) will indict Sindh local government ex-secretary’s assistant Ramzan Solangi, Javed Qamar and other accused persons on November 8 for the corruption of Rs760 million and misuse of authority.
The AC was hearing the corruption references filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Solangi, Qamaruddin Shaikh, Syed Ghullab, Iqbal Shah and Muhammad Javed Qamar.
The accused appeared before the court where copies of references were provided to them.
The NAB had arrested Solangi in April for allegedly collecting a monthly bribe from district municipal councils, union councils and local governments.
The anti-graft watchdog said that Rs31.5m including foreign currency, prize bonds, gold and other assets with certain documents were recovered from Solangi’s residence in Garden area.
It further claimed that the detained officials misused their official authority and caused losses to the national exchequer of Rs760m through their corrupt practices.
The NAB also said that Solangi was given an illegal appointment of grade 18 while he was not qualified for it. The court would indicate the accused on the next hearing.
