Two-time Pakistan Super League (PSL) champion Islamabad United wants its present captain and former national cricket team skipper Misbah ul Haq to join the franchise as a mentor.

Earlier, reports emerged that Misbah will not be part of the United team.

Ali Naqvi, one of the two co-owners of the team took it to Twitter to say that he looks forward to his “next innings” and that “Misbah is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant cricketing minds of today. We as a team and I personally have been privileged to benefit from his leadership on and off the ground. We are looking forward to his next innings. #Salute to you, #Captain!”

The reports earlier claimed that former Pakistan cricket team captain Misbah ul Haq has decided to not be a part of the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Celebrated skipper, who captained the two-time champion Islamabad United, has been with the franchise since the very beginning.

According to reports, talks are underway between the 44-years old cricketer and the franchise for his next possible role with them.

Misbah is expected to come on board as a mentor for Islamabad United in the following edition of PSL, reports claimed.

Saeed Ajmal is likely to replace Tauseef Ahmed in the coaching staff of the said team in PSL4.

The fourth edition of PSL will start on February 14, 2019.
