–PM Khan, CM Buzdar discuss the political situation
LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the Punjab cabinet where he told the provincial ministers that they should prioritise serving the people because the government’s focus is on improving governance.
He said that there is no place for unproductive and incompetent ministers in the cabinet. He also said that opposition’s role is to criticise while the government’s task is to serve the people.
“Pakistan Citizens’ Portal is operational now and corruption will be under check from now onwards,” he said.
The prime minister said that although National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had suggested an increase of more than Rs3 on electricity tariff, the government only approved a hike of Rs1.27 to avoid burdening the poor.
He said that his government’s main agenda is to transform Pakistan into a welfare state and for this purpose, the top priority is being given to the education and healthcare sector.
The provincial ministers expressed complete trust in the leadership of the prime minister and gave recommendations for improving different sectors.
PM, CM BUZDAR DISCUSS POLITICAL SITUATION:
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar called on PM Khan in Lahore on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the prime minister and the chief minister discussed the overall political situation and the implementation on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government’s 100-day agenda.
Meanwhile, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi also called on PM Khan and discussed different issues of mutual interest, including the current political situation.
Previously, on October 7, PM Khan chaired a meeting of the Punjab cabinet where he said that the PTI government will remove flaws in the existing local government system to serve the people in the best possible way.
Taking the cabinet members into confidence on local government system and housing programme, the premier said that the purpose of local government system is public welfare so that people at the grass root level are empowered.
He said the new system will ensure completion of developmental projects on time, adding that there will be a complete check on financial irregularities in the local government system. He also directed the provincial cabinet to do timely legislation on the issue.
PM Khan also directed for timely achievement of targets set under the 100-day plan of his government and urged the provincial cabinet members to strive for serving the masses. He asked the Punjab government to lend its support in the national cleanliness and plantation campaigns.
The prime minister was of the view that the steps should be taken for judicious utilisation of the government-owned lands and buildings.
MPs all praise for CM Buzdar:
The participants of combined session of PTI’s provincial assembly members and ministers which was held under the chair of Prime Minister Imran Khan here on Tuesday appreciated the decision of appointing Usman Buzdar as the chief minister and paid rich tributes to him.
According to a handout, MPA Sadia Sohail Rana said Usman Buzdar’s handling of parliamentary party affairs was praiseworthy and the critics had been silenced because of his good attitude.
She thanked the prime minister for giving a good chief minister to the Punjab province.
Another MPA quoted the example of introduction of Waseem Akram and Inzimam-ul-Haq in cricket by Imran Khan and said choosing Usman Buzdar for Punjab would prove equally good.
“He (CM) is available to the public round-the-clock,” he said.
Talking to the prime minister, other assembly members also appreciated the performance of the chief minister and the cabinet.
