LAHORE: Police on Sunday arrested a couple from Lahore’s China Scheme area for allegedly torturing an 11-year-old maid.
According to the police, the Child Protection Bureau in Lahore registered a First Information Report regarding the alleged and mistreatment of the child maid who had burn wounds from a hot iron.
It was reported by the girl’s mother that she left her daughter in “the custody of her employers some four years ago”.
Moreover, according to the girl’s statement, her employers — a couple — and their son used to torture her.
Earlier on Saturday, the minor house help said that “the woman tortured her with a hot iron and sticks,” but she managed to escape from the house and seek help from the neighbours. Subsequently, she was handed over to the protection bureau.
According to further reports, a medical checkup of the victim is being arranged.
