Gossip Girl has been one of the most loved and watched TV series to date, as we lived a life with the privileged upper-class teenagers in Manhattan during each 45-minute long episode.
It’s been more than a decade since the ‘mysterious’ blogger and her Upper East Side targets first hit screens in 2007 and the show remains unrivaled as one of the most scandalous teen dramas.
Each episode begins with the home page of the Gossip Girl website and Serena’s picture from the pilot episode. Afterwards, a recap of events relevant to the upcoming narrative is shown, which ends again with the home page of the website, only this time with a picture from other characters with a text about a recent event connected with the picture.
The narrator is Gossip Girl, voiced by actress Kristen Bell. She begins the recap with the sentence, “Gossip Girl here, your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite,” and ends the recap with whispered voices saying “Where has she been?” and “Serena.” Then, the voice says, “And who am I? That’s one secret I’ll never tell! You know you love me… XOXO, Gossip Girl.”
From Chuck Bass’s ‘I love you’ moment to the gossip, from the scandalous lives to finding out who Gossip Girl really is, let’s reminisce for a bit and take a look back at some of those crazy, baffling, romantic and tragic moments that had us all OMG-ing at the TV.
1 – Serena van der Woodsen’s return
In the beginning, we did not realise the magnitude of her return, which the characters obviously did.
‘Everyone knows Serena, and everyone is talking,’ her return to Manhattan was what transpired 6 seasons and 121 episodes of the teen drama.
2 – Chuck’s ‘I love you’ moment
For all those who were watching Gossip Girl at that time and have watched it knew what it meant when Chuck finally said those three words to Queen Bee Blair Waldorf.
It only took two seasons for Chuck to say these words to Blair. And when he did, a collective sign was heard from fans across the globe.
3 – Serena and Nate’s secret
No one knew why Serena left the Upper East Side but when she came back, everyone was bound to find out that ‘Golden Boy’ aka Nate Archibald cheated on Blair with her best friend, Serena.
This was definitely a dramatic start to the first season.
4 – Blair and Chuck in a car crash
Now, a lot happens on Gossip Girl, at one point ‘Lonely Boy’ aka Dan Humphrey was in love with Blair.
In season 5, after finding out Blair is pregnant, Dan arranges for Chuck and Blair to run away together. But the town car crashes and Blair loses the baby and Chuck nearly dies. Yes, we all cried.
5 – The big reveal
6 seasons and 121 episodes later when the world finally came face to face with the actual ‘Gossip Girl’ we were not only shocked but we couldn’t catch our breath for a good few weeks. Dan Humphrey was Gossip Girl.
This whole time, Lonely Boy was the one who was leaking Manhattan Elite’s dirty secrets.
XOXO!
