KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Friday arrested two members of a gang which included a foreigner involved in looting the citizens by hacking ATM machines and recovered over a thousand ATM machines and credit cards.
The FIA spokesperson said that keeping in view the surge in cases of looting citizens through ATM hacking, the FIA accelerated efforts to apprehend the culprits.
After hectic efforts by the officials, a Pakistani and a Romanian national involved in ATM-hacking were arrested.
The FIA also recovered 130 ATM machines, credit cards, laptops, cameras and over 1000 fake cards.
The spokesperson explained that tens of millions of rupees had been stolen by them.
The culprits used to flee abroad after committing the crime and returned after spending few weeks or months outside the country, the FIA spokesman added.
He said that other members of the gang will also be apprehended soon and strict action will be taken against them.
