Preity Zinta gave her consent to dismiss the case against her former boyfriend and entrepreneur Ness Wadia, after he apologised to her as well as submitted an affidavit to that effect. The Bombay High Court has now quashed the case against Ness.

On June 13, 2014, Preity filed a complaint against her ex-boyfriend and co-owner of the Kings XI Punjab IPL (Indian Premier League) team alleging that he molested, abused and threatened her during an IPL match.

According to Preity’s complaint, the incident took place on May 30, 2014, during a Kings XI Punjab vs Chennai Super Kings match when Wadia allegedly abused the IPL team staffers over ticket distribution and that when she urged him to remain calm.

However, in response Wadia allegedly grabbed her arms, abused and molested her. Preity was reported to have said that Ness “intimidated me by saying that he could make me disappear as I was a nobody and only an actress and he’s a powerful person”.

Zinta then lodged a police complaint against him on June 13, 2014. Photographs were submitted as evidence as well. However, Ness had denied all allegations.

The Mumbai Police filed a charge sheet in the case in February this year, four years after the incident took place, prompting Wadia to move the high court to quash the proceedings.

During the hearings, the court suggested to both Zinta and Wadia to “consider finishing off the case” and placed the matter for final hearing on Wednesday where they were present along with their lawyers.

source close to the development said that it was the actress’ decision to withdraw the case.

“Contrary to reports, Preity Zinta did not lose the case to Ness Wadia but in fact decided to forgive him and put the past behind her as he apologised for what happened. The case has been squashed because Preity decided to be the bigger person and let go of it. She even tweeted about her decision,” said the source.

Preity, who is now married to Los Angeles based Gene Goodenough, tweeted, “It feels good to move on. Put to rest and forgive. It’s amazing how one simple word can give closure. The windscreen is always larger than the rare view mirror.”

Zinta is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Bhaiaji Superhit.
