Hamza says Shehbaz’s arrest a ‘joke with nation’

–Marriyum says PML-N being victimised in the name of accountability

–Hamza, Salman meet Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umra

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hamza Shehbaz called the arrest of Shehbaz Sharif by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) “a joke with the nation”.

Talking to a reporter on Sunday, he said that Shehbaz was arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday in the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case.

The opposition leader’s son said that his father saved as many as Rs2,300 billion of the national exchequer in different projects, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s bias against PML-N is now known to the people of Pakistan.

Hamza said that Rs70 billion Peshawar metro bus project has become ruins of the past.

“Shehbaz was summoned before the NAB in a different case and was arrested in another. Such a joke with the nation will not last long,” he said.

‘PML-N BEING VICTIMISED IN NAME OF ACCOUNTABILITY’:

PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday said that PML-N has decided to constitute a committee to hold consultations over Shehbaz’s arrest and will decide the action plan regarding the case.

She said that the party is being victimised in the name of accountability. She also said that PML-N’s government had initiated a number of development projects in the country and had served the general public in an exemplary manner.

HAMZA, SALMAN MEET NAWAZ SHARIF AT JATI UMRA:

Shehbaz’s sons Hamza and Salman met with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at his Jati Umra residence and discussed the situation whose arose after the arrest of their father.

Sources said that Sharif family has decided to avail all legal options to meet Shehbaz Sharif. Maryam Nawaz was also present during the meeting.

Earlier, an accountability court on Saturday granted 10-day physical remand of the Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif to the NAB in the Ashiyana-e-Iqbal Housing Society scam. NAB had arrested the PML-N president in Rs14 billion housing scandal on Friday. He had been summoned to bureau’s Lahore office in connection with Saaf Pani company investigation but was arrested in the housing scam.
