ISLAMABAD: Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif criticised Finance Minister Asad Umar for his speech and said that the minister overlooked the achievements of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) when it party was in power.
During the session of the lower house on Wednesday, Shehbaz said that the minister had mentioned load shedding but overlooked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) achievements.
“The PML-N claimed to end load shedding until 2018 elections, was it not true?” the opposition leader asked.
Addressing the government benches, Shehbaz said, “If the finance minister cannot acknowledge our efforts, he at least should audit our projects wherein we saved Rs160 billion.”
He boastfully added that the previous PML-N government completed projects which were pending for 20 years. “The Neelum-Jhelum project was not completed in 18 years, but we did it.”
The finance minister should have announced to audit that project, Shehbaz complained.
Further commenting on the unity among opposition parties, he stated that all attempts to increase the gulf between the PML-N and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have failed.
