The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Monday announced its participation in the postponed elections for certain seats of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
The MQM has moreover advised its candidates Saleem Butt and Tahir Khokhar to begin their campaigns for the election.
MQM spokesman Wasey Jalil said the decision to participate in the elections was made after the Muzaffarabad High Court directed the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly to schedule the elections for the LA-30 (Jammu-I) and LA-36 (Kashmir Valley-I) seats.
Earlier, the MQM quit the PPP-led coalition government after the postponement of Azad Kashmir election in Karachi for the two seats.
Jalil said MQM is a democratic political party and it will surely take part in the AJK elections.

  1. I am bewildered then why MQM made all the fuss about? Why couldn't they wait few weeks rather than hystrionic speech by MQM supremo Altaf Hussain leaving people and media in frenzied speculation of 'destruction' of the present set up. I believe this may be a blessing in disguise for people of Sindh that MQM has come out and they could now be held accountable for the misdeeds they have done. This accountability was not possible due to ridiculous policy of 'hum sab ko saath le chalein gey'.
