LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday ordered the authorities concerned to register all illegal housing societies of the province.

Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi directed to complete the process within a month and also instructed Punjab Chief Secretary Akbar Durrani to constitute a high-level committee in this regard.

Lahore Development Authority (LDA) had earlier issued a list of illegal housing societies of the provincial capital. These included Al-Rehmat Town, Theme Park View Housing Scheme, Kamboh Colony, Bin Alam City and others.

A forensic audit team of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had also sealed offices of more than 17 illegal housing societies in Sargodha and directed the authorities concerned to stop the sale of plots or houses.

The bureau had also demanded to lodge a case against the developers for violating the Punjab Private Housing Schemes Act of 2010.
