Following the government’s announcement to shelf the leasing of Radio Pakistan headquarters, furious employees still protested and did not allow the Director-General Shafqat Jalil to enter his office, a local media house reported.
It was also reported that after this reaction from the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) employees, Information Minister issued a statement saying that action would be taken against those who were involved in the incident.
Moreover, it was further reported that after Jalil arrived at his office the PBC employees requested him to leave the place and accused him of “conspiring against the interests of Radio Pakistan and its employees”. After which, the director general left his office amid cheers and taunts from protesting employees who had even filled the hallway outside the DG office.
Meanwhile, Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said that “action would be taken against those who had mistreated the DG and forcibly restricted him from performing his duty”.
In addition to that, Fawad also claimed that the PTV was also a loss-making entity, which also falls under his ministry and its headquarters is located close to that of the PBC in the Red Zone.
