The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) cabinet relaxed rules in order to allow the Pakistan Army to obtain control over 19 kanals of forest land to establish a cantonment in Swat district, a local media outlet reported on Thursday.
KP government spokesperson informed reporters that the move was part of the government’s plan to provide more than 75 kanals of land to establish a cantonment in Swat.
He explained that rules regarding the 19 kanals of forest land had to be relaxed as they did not allow for leasing or using the land for any other purpose.
He lauded the Pakistan Army for restoring peace in Swat and said that the decision to establish a cantonment was taken after militancy was eliminated by the security forces.
