Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Thursday sealed at least four fast food outlets in a spate of its crackdown along Lahore-Islamabad motorway, a private media outlet reported.

PFA in a statement said that food safety teams under the supervision of food safety officers checked dozens of local and multinational fast food chains and restaurants in the service area of Bhera, Chakri, Kalar Kahar, Sukhekhi and others.

PFA Director General Captain (r) Muhammad Usman monitored the activity of the field teams.

Muhammad Usman later told media that PFA sealed four fast food outlets over usage of stale meat,  filthy cutting boards, outlet’s stinky environment and failure to maintain a hygienic working environment.

The PFA teams also penalized two other fast food outlets for doing business without Halal Food License, using bad quality oil for frying purpose and poor hygienic condition.

PFA DG said that it is a major responsibility of the PFA to ensure the provision of quality food for commuters who daily visited food points located along the motorway .
