SHC dismisses bail plea of ad-agency owner

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday dismissed the bail plea of an advertising agency owner Inam Akbar in a case of embezzling more than Rs5.76billion funds of Sindh Information Department.

The honourable court was hearing the bail plea filed by Inam Akbar who is involved in a mega corruption case.

SHC remarked that there was solid evidence against the accused and he could not be released on bail.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Prosecutor Yair Mughal said that the accused had made corruption in the name of advertisements as the frontman of former Sindh information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

He said that from the embezzled money, some Rs4 billion were transferred to the account of Inam Akbar.

Applicant’s advocate, Shaukat Hayat said that his client had been in prison for the last nine months, so he should be released on bail.

The interim bail of Sharjeel Inam Memon, Inam Akbar and others was rejected by the apex court, and he was arrested after the rejection of his bail plea.
