The status of Kashmir

We have been hearing about the Kashmir issue since 1947. It has now been 64 years and nothing has come out of it. Throughout this period, each government has been making very hopeful statements about the resolution of the Kashmir issue according to the wishes of Kashmiri people and the UN resolutions. On the other hand, the Indian government has been saying that there is no Kashmir issue and it is a part of India.

The Pakistani nation has never been told the actual truth about the status of Kashmir in the eyes of the world or the UNO. Each and every government of Pakistan has been giving false hopes to its nation regarding its solution according to the UN Resolutions of 1951.There have been numerous bilateral talks between India and Pakistan after 1951 to resolve all issues including Kashmir issue but never ever have they agreed on an agenda.

There have been secret clauses in the pacts and agreements of Pakistan government with India about which the public is ignorant. The first one was Tashkent Declaration and the second one was Simla Agreement.

The public has the perception that Kashmir has been sold out in Simla Agreement as after these two pacts or agreements, even the UN has stopped taking an interest in the issue and asks both the countries to resolve it mutually.

What is the truth in the latest status of Kashmir Issue? I request the democratically elected government of Mr Asif Ali Zardari to please tell the truth on the present Kashmir status as it will dispel many misconceptions taking root in the public.
