PISHIN: At least three Levies personnel were martyred and another two injured in a bomb attack in Balochistan’s Pishin district on Friday.

The attack targeted the assistant commissioner’s vehicle. The injured have been shifted to Quetta for medical treatment.

According to police, the motorcycle-borne bomb targeted Assistant Commissioner Amir Zaman Kakar’s vehicle, who was not travelling in the vehicle at the time of the attack.

The martyred personnel were identified as Asmatullah Abdul Baqi and Jafar Khan. The wounded were shifted to Quetta’s Civil Hospital for medical treatment where an emergency had been imposed to treat the injured.

A heavy contingent of Levies forces reached the site of the Pishin Bypass area where the attack took place, and police and members of the Bomb Disposal Squad looked into the nature of the blast.

A senior police official said that the initial investigation revealed that it was a planted bomb. It was discovered that 5-6 kilogrammes of explosive material were used in the bomb.

Provincial Home Minister Saleem Khosa condemned the blast and directed authorities to immediately submit a report on the incident and ensure the wounded received treatment.
