A United States (US) based travel vlogger has been sexually and verbally harassed during her trip to India, which she has recounted in the latest video on her Youtube channel.

In the video, Jordan Taylor, going by the Youtube channel “Travellight”, has narrated her traumatising experience on the roads of New Delhi, where she was touched and groped by random passersby.

“Men just passing by reached out and grabbed me… they were touching me, groping me. This one guy kinda leaned in and he just said to me, ‘I want to have sex with you’, right into my face, even with Livio [Jordan’s boyfriend] right there.”

Jordan has shared how, in different cities, she experienced several such incidents and how in a five-star hotel her personal information was allegedly passed on to a stalker.

In the video, she has further said that her troubles amplified after her boyfriend left. According to her, the first night she spent alone was in utter horror as the staff of another hotel she had checked into kept knocking on her door and patrolling outside her room.

“One of the guys knocked on the door and said ‘hello… open your door’. He came back an hour later and banged something really hard against the door,” she says, adding that hotel staffers also kept calling her room time and again and made inappropriate sounds over the phone.

In another incident, she alleges that the staff purposely switched off the air-conditioning and WiFi and kept knocking at her door under the pretext of repairing them.

She ran out of water and could not go out to get food. “[I felt like] I am being hunted at the hotel I was staying,” she says, adding that it was extremely traumatising. Here, she also inserts the footage of the shadows outside her door as well as a recorded phone call with the hotel staff. The entire incident can be seen in the video at 9:12.

Jordan adds that while she was terrified in the room, she was also calm. She was thinking of scenarios like what if the people outside broke down the door and what she could do.

At 3 am she observed that there was no one outside her room and she immediately made a quiet escape to the airport and left the country.

“But all of that composure melted away when I reached the airport. I was having panic attacks, I was crying all over the world in different airports. At one point I couldn’t even get on to a plane because I felt like I would be trapped again. I felt like I couldn’t breathe,” Jordan says and adds that she was happy with her initial days in India and it was the last few ones that left her scarred.

“I just keep telling myself I will eventually forget about it… but I can’t. I was even more covered than some of the local women but still, it happened to me and I couldn’t do anything.”

Jordan also repeatedly says in the video that she did not necessarily want to spread a negative image of the country, but felt the need to share her experience with her viewers.
