KARACHI: Newly-appointed Sindh Inspector General (IG) of Police Dr Kaleem Imam said on Wednesday that curbing street crime is the prime responsibility of the police.
Talking to media representatives at Karachi airport, the Sindh IG assured that he will work to improve the present police machinery.
“Eliminating street crime in Karachi is our top priority and we will work very hard towards it,” the Sindh IG added.
Dr Imam assumed charge on Wednesday morning. Upon arrival at Central Police Office, the Sindh IG was welcomed by the additional inspector general and other police officials. He was also presented with a guard of honour by a police contingent.
“I will work very hard and will curb crime,” he said.
Dr Imam has previously served as chief of Punjab police. He replaced Amjad Javed Saleem who was removed from his post after the top cadre of police officials underwent a massive administrative reshuffle last week.
