Rescue 1122 dealt with 32,359 emergencies in June

Rescue 1122 responded to 32,359 emergencies and rescued over 32,929 victims in Punjab during June, 2011. The monthly review meeting on emergency operations was held on Friday here at Rescue 1122 Headquarters where the department’s director general was also given a briefing.
The emergency calls to which Rescue 1122 responded included 11,717 road crashes, 17,568 medical emergencies, 832 fire incidents, 83 building collapse incidents, 1,871 crime-related emergencies, 166 drowning mishaps, 106 special rescue operations and 16 explosions.
The director general in a public message advised citizens to take extra care while driving during rain and bad weather and dial emergency number 1122 in case of any mishap.
