Punjab Wildlife Deputy Director Chaudhry Riaz was made an officer on special duty (OSD) on Friday after a lion cub disappeared under suspicious circumstances from the Lahore Safari Park on Wednesday.
The cub was being hand-fed because its mother was not feeding it and on Wednesday morning, the guard who supervised the feeding of the cub, reported that it had gone missing.
The cub has been allegedly stolen by wildlife authorities and a first information report (FIR) has been lodged at the Raiwind Police Station against the guard. Riaz was replaced by Yousuf Paal. Paal was a former Lahore Zoo director and made to resign while several officers were sacked with regard to a case of the zoo allegedly importing two white tigers from Indonesia without permits required to move endangered species internationally.

  1. Where is the Green Lahore walkabouts of canal tree fame? ITS VERY ODD THAT THEY WERE SO SILENT WHEN THE BABOOS WERE CHOPPING/SELLING FORESTS AND TREES ON RURAL CANALS. SUDDENLY BECAME VOCAL WHEN THE CANAL ROAD WAS BEING WIDENED.
