It is unfortunate how much hate and abuse female actresses are subjected to. While most of them tend to ignore the spiteful comments, Armeena Khan, chooses the route less followed and calls out those who pass hateful and demeaning comments.
The British-Pakistani actress recently took to Twitter to share an incident in which a Twitter user hurled a tirade of abuses towards her and labelled her a ‘slut.’
While the Twitter user, Farhan, later deleted his tweets, Armeena shared screenshots of his tweets publicly calling him out for his actions.
Armeena first shared his tweets writing, “Amusing. What a shame. Right I need details on this guy. Who can help?”

She then followed with a message informing that the guy deleted his tweets. However, she added that he was tracked and “will be reported to the correct authorities.”

Armeena then went onto share his tweets, writing, “So I’m attaching the tweets because such persons should be exposed for being a menace to society. This man has zero respect for mothers, daughters and sisters. I ask all to refrain from such language as it is unbecoming for a Pakistani. This is not how our parents bring us up.”

She continued, “Like most Pakistanis abroad, I give more than I take. I am a sincere person and believe in the betterment of society. Thank you and love to you guys from your brothers and sisters overseas.” Armeena’s tweet was in response to all those who told her to keep out of Pakistan’s matters because she was not a Pakistani.

Meanwhile, across the border, actor Swara Bhasker also received online flak from a filmmaker, Vivek Agnihotri for expressing solidarity with a rape survivor from Kerala. Agnihotri abused both Swara and the rape survivor, calling them ‘prostitute nuns.’

Swara called out the abuser and eventually Twitter asked him to take down his tweet.
Swara shared the same message as Armeena and asked people to speak up against online bullies.
“Girls! (Boys & everyone) do not allow cyber bullies and haters to shame you or humiliate you on public platforms! Resist, challenge and call out bullies and misogynists! Thank you Twitter. You just made the virtual public sphere a little bit better,” Swara wrote.

Cyber bullying is growing cause of concern as it results in great distress among the people. Just last week a young Pakistani model, Anam Tanoli, took her own life after being subjected to online harassment and bullying.
