KARACHI: Formation of a new political party, led by Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nation Abdullah Hussain Haroon, is in the pipeline, Pakistan Today has learnt.
Haroon, a vocal critic of the government’s treatment of Benazir’s assassination case, has been meeting influential political leaders of Sindh including former Punjab governor Ghulam Mustafa Khar,
former national assembly speaker Illahi Bux Soomro, former provincial minister Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi and former federal law minister Abdul Hafiz Pirzada during his visits to different cities.
“I resigned as Pakistan’s representative to the UN but I have been asked to wait by President Zardari till the next arrangement is made,” Haroon told Pakistan Today on Tuesday, adding that he had completed all his assignments.
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab have received their share of flood relief funds sent by the international community, but Sindh has not availed them so far,” he said, while discussing the UN’s flood relief effort.
When asked if he was planning to form a new political party or not, Haroon said that he will answer all questions of such nature at an ‘appropriate time.’
