KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has paid rich tributes to the martyrs and decorated heroes of Pakistan’s Armed Forces on the occasion of Defence Day.
In his message, PIA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Muhammad Saqib Aziz said that PIA salutes the defenders of the country, reiterating that the national carrier would always be ready to serve the nation.
PIA honoured the personnel of Pakistan Military and civil armed forces who sacrificed their lives to protect the motherland against all threats of enemies. As a mark of respect for their great sacrifices, PIA adorned its Boeing 777 aircraft with photographs of Nishan-e-Haider recipients.
This aircraft operated a chartered flight carrying more than 300 Pak army soldiers for UN mission to Bijumpura (Burundi) in the Central Africa. The flight took off from New Islamabad International Airport at 10:15am carrying Pakistan troops. The same aircraft will bring back more than 300 Pakistan troops back to Islamabad on Friday.
The airline also displayed banners and posters at check-in counters of all airports in Pakistan in order to honour the brave sons of the soil. PIA also recorded and played a song dedicated to the martyrs and heroes on the flights. The airline employees also held special prayers for the martyrs and for the prosperity of Pakistan.
