235th Independence Day of US celebrated

The 235th Independence Day of the United States of America was celebrated at the residence of US Consul General Lahore Carmela Conroy on Thursday. Shehryar Taseer was the chief guest at the ceremony, which was attended by Deputy Ambassador Richard Hoagland and diplomats of several countries. Conroy said the US was assisting Pakistan in various fields through the USAID, and was funding the health, education and women empowerment sectors. She said it was necessary that the relations between both countries were strengthened. Addressing the guests, Taseer said the youth could play an important role in strengthening the relations between both countries. He said that 65 percent of population in Pakistan consisted of people below 25 years of age and it was the biggest resource for development. Taseer said it was crucial to educate the youth and make them useful citizen.
