South African star AB de Villiers may soon be joining the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to feature in the fourth annual edition, a local news outlet reported.

The report claimed that de Villiers has agreed to be part of the PSL 4 which is scheduled to begin in February 2019.

His arrival was already hinted twice by the PSL official twitter account and a majority of fans had already guessed his name as possible latest signing by PSL.

“De Villiers is coming to PSL… He is available for around three weeks, you can say around 7 matches,” the report quoted sources.

Regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, the South African batsman holds many batting records and, surely, one to add value to the T20 cricket league.

The PSL authorities and franchises are also in talks to include Australian duo of David Warner and Steven Smith in the league.

Meanwhile, the franchises are waiting for a final list of available players from the PSL secretariat to make their retention for the next edition. The process is likely to be completed by the end of this month and draft for the next PSL is likely to be held in the mid-October, the report said.

In May 2018, PSL franchise Quetta Gladiators had formally invited de Villiers to be in action for the next edition of the PSL, asking him to consider the option.

De Villiers, who retired from all international cricket this year, has never featured in the PSL despite being invited numerous times by the franchises and requested by his Pakistani fans.

In a tweet, Gladiators wrote, “Dear @ABdeVilliers17, we would love to have you in Pakistan Super League. February – March is the window. Please consider. Regards, Quetta Gladiators.”

Gladiators account also mentioned that he has no scheduled games in February-March, the same time when PSL 2019 will be held.
