Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab is celebrating Provincial Autonomy Day today (Friday), said PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich here on Thursday. He was speaking to the media after chairing a meeting of the Punjab chapter of the PPP’s executive council. He said that the devolution of ministries to provinces under 18th Amendment was aimed at giving more autonomy to the provinces which had been promised by PPP leadership. He said that PPP was committed to provide due right to provinces so that masses could be facilitated further. Hailing newly transferred powers to the provinces, he termed the step historic and unprecedented. He said that empowering the provinces could only frustrate elements harbouring evil designs against the country.
He congratulated PPP Azad Kashmir, people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on party’s victory in the AJK election. He said that Azad Jammu and Kashmir election proved popularity of PPP. Earlier, the PPP Punjab chapter celebrated party’s victory in Azad Jammu Kashmir elections. A large number of party workers and PPP Azad Kashmir leaders participated in the celebrations. PPP activists distributed sweets among participants. They also danced to the beat to drums.
PPP leaders present on the occasion included Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, Sami ullah Khan, Ashraf Sohna, Dr Fakhar, Usman malik, Dr Hasnat Shah, Iqbal Sialvi and others. Meanwhile, an even was also held at the residence of Samina Ghurki to honour PPP workers who were wounded during electioneering for AJK polls in Lahore. The PPP Lahore President Samina Ghurki spoke to the workers.
