HYDERABAD: Controversy surrounds the death of a newly-wed young woman who was found dead on the bank of the Indus River in Kotri, Jamshoro district on Saturday.

The police informed that 18-year-old Ayesha Solangi was a resident of Hyderabad’s Qasimabad area whose dead body floated to the other side of the river bank.

The woman’s husband Mehrab Solangi alleged that his wife’s stepfather had killed his wife.

“She was first strangulated to death and later her body was thrown into the river,” he alleged while talking to the media during a protest demonstration.

Solangi claimed that his in-laws took away his wife from his home a day before the incident.

After this complaint, the Jamsoro police brought the dead body for postmortem to Liaquat University Hospital in Hyderabad and later took it to Taluka hospital in Kotri.

However, due to the unavailability of female Medico-Legal Officer, the autopsy could not be performed. The sit-in protest of the family outside the Taluka hospital continued till the filing of this report. They demanded a postmortem of the deceased so that the police could lodge a first information report (FIR).
